Why I'm Running

It has been said that anyone can steer the ship when the sea is calm.

But tough times require experienced leadership.

As a long-time Mason District resident, parent and community leader, I've worked with and for children for 14 years. Now I'm running for School Board because I want to continue putting my energy to work  for students, parents, teachers and citizens during these difficult budget times.

I have more than six years experience in scrutinizing our school system's budget. During that time, I was involved in efforts which resulted in saving Fairfax County Public Schools millions of dollars through transportation efficiencies. Our school system's shrinking budgets will require continued innovation and  imagination to make the best use of our limited resources.

And I have the vision and the experience to ensure that FCPS delivers on  its promise to provide a world-class public education for every child  in Fairfax County.

When Kaye Kory urged me to run for the seat she's vacating, it was a call to public service. I have heeded that call with my heart and head, knowing that the challenges we face in fiscally difficult times will persist, but that with a willingness to make smart, compassionate decisions, we can overcome those challenges.

Together, we can keep Fairfax County Public Schools on firm ground.   Mason District students, parents and teachers deserve no less!  I ask for your  support in my campaign for School Board.
